FOR THE STREUSEL

FOR THE BASE:

πŸ”… 1 cup granulated sugar
πŸ”…2 large eggs, room temperature
πŸ”…3/4 teaspoon almond extract
πŸ”…1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
πŸ”…1/4 teaspoon salt
πŸ”…1 cup all-purpose flour 
πŸ”…2 cups fresh cranberries

FOR THE GLAZE:
πŸ”…1 cup powdered sugar
πŸ”…1/4-1/2 teaspoon almond extract
πŸ”…1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
πŸ”…4-10 teaspoons milk
πŸ”…1/2 cup toasted sliced almonds, optional

ONE  Preheat the oven to 350 Β°F and line an 8″x8″ pan with a piece of parchment paper.

TWO  Prepare the streusel. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Using a pastry blender or your hands, incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Place in the refrigerator until ready to use.

THREE  In a large mixing bowl, mix together the melted butter, sugar, eggs, almond extract, vanilla extract and salt until well combined.

FOUR  Stir in the flour and then the cranberries until thoroughly combined.

FIVE  Spoon into the prepared pan and top with the streusel.

SIX  Bake for 30-35 minutes and do the stick test. Let cool completely.

SEVEN  If serving the bars today, prepare the glaze. Otherwise, wait to ice

EIGHT  In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, almond extract, vanilla extract and 4 teaspoons of milk. Add more milk, if needed, so that the glaze is just pourable but not too thin. Drizzle over the bars. Top with toasted sliced almonds, if using. Enjoy!
